Architecture and its image

Contenido principal del artículo

Resumen

In a world frequently dominated by image, architectural reality assumes the particular characteristics of an image and loses its own. As a consequence, architectural products are too separated from the context they belong to. This essay reviews the influence that various images have had in the evolution of architecture (some of them of works never built) and invites to reflect on the separation between image and meaning produced in the 20th Century. The author concludes that it is possible today for architecture to produce values and not only images.
