Abstract

¿Cuál es la forma del movimiento Este ensayo examina cómo la arquitectura ha rechazado el movimiento de manera consistente, mientras al mismo tiempo sostiene que está al centro de sus preocupaciones. El New Luxor Theatre, de la oficina de arquitectura Bolles + Wilson, y más específicamente su rampa para camiones, es la médula de este ensayo que argumenta cómo esta propone una nueva forma de entender la relación entre movimiento y edificio. Para afirmarlo, el artículo utiliza elementos de la historia de la arqui-tectura (términos como “circulación” y metáforas mecanicistas como el transatlántico) y el análisis de los elementos arquitectónicos en sí mismos (cómo esta rampa difiere de otras). En general, el ensayo investiga la forma en que la arquitectura, por definición una pila de material estático, lidia con el elemento más ines-table e impredecible de todos: lo móvil.
