Abstract
Analizado desde la forma, el Costanera Center parece un ejemplo de poco interés que solo destaca por su excesivo tamaño. Sin embargo, su propia excesividad pone en serios aprietos a la arquitectura ya que desdibuja una serie de categorías y lógicas de análisis que damos por sentadas. Así, basándose en el Costanera Center, este artículo revisa aquellas lógicas que exceden a la arquitectura y que permiten que un edificio sea mucho más de lo que su forma revela.
Abstract
If we analyze it from its shape, the Costanera Center building doesn't seem to have any architectural interest beyond its excessive size. However, it is precisely that excessiveness what puts architecture in trouble, as it blurs some categories and logics of analysis we take for granted. By using the Costanera Center as a rearview mirror, this article looks back to architecture in order to review some aspects overlooked by a contemporary discourse excessively focused in the shape of buildings.
