Abstract
riggered by the Berlin car-free referendum initiative, in this article we explore the meaning of systematic change in the city’s metabolism, by repurposing common space. We bring together our own experiences, touch on Berlin’s political and cultural spirit, we look into historic transformations, whether they were utopian or dystopian, and we want to speculate about the possibilities that open up by drastically redefining Berlin’s public space towards an urban-natural habitat.
