Abstract

Este ensayo analiza el texto escrito en 1958 por el sociólogo alemán Theodor Adorno “El ensayo como forma”, a través de los escritos de cinco historiadores ingleses de la arquitectura de post-guerra: John Summerson, Colin Rowe, Alan Colquhoun, Reyner Banham y Robin Evans. Sostiene que el compromiso de cada uno de estos historiadores con el ensayo ha pasado en gran parte desapercibido, sin recibir ningún tipo de reconocimiento por su trabajo; en forma más general, propone que el ensayo, como una manera muy especial de comunicar popularmente ideas educadas, debería ser re-establecido como un modelo importante y accesible para toda la escritura de textos académicos.
