Abstract
El artículo analiza las formas de trabajo independiente de artistas y diseñadores y cuestiona si realmente constituyen un modelo explotable por el capital como pretenden algunas iniciativas gubernamentales. La autora analiza conceptos como “creatividad” e “industrias culturales” y explora la función simbólica que cumplen los debates en torno a las industrias creativas en los procesos políticos, económicos y sociales. Respecto a las industrias creativas, señala que no son una realidad, sino un discurso acompañado por la voluntad internacional de hacerlas realidad tan pronto como sea posible.
